Materiality Analysis

ITRI has developed the following materiality analysis process with reference to the GRI 2021 material topic determination procedures and reporting principles. This process is designed in accordance with ITRI's operational context and serves as a foundation for prioritizing sustainability issues and allocating resources. The setting of targets and the implementation results for material topics are regularly reported by the Office of ITRI Sustainable Development to the ITRI Sustainability Steering Committee. The outcomes are reviewed and authorized by the Board of Directors through the President, who uses the insights to refine strategies and approaches, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the Institute’s sustainability development.

Sustainability Steering_14.1

Notes:

  1. The material topics identified by the Institute for 2024 are highlighted in bold. Compared with 2023, a new material topic—Greenhouse Gases and Renewable Energy—was added, resulting in a total of seven material topics.
  2. Through the materiality analysis, the Institute reviewed internal resource allocation and sustainability goals. After validation by ITRI experts and senior management, the actions previously categorized under the topic “Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation” were redistributed across relevant environmental topics to align with the core principles and directions of climate-related issues. Additionally, “reduction of GHG emissions” and “renewable energy” were consolidated into a single topic, “Greenhouse Gases and Renewable Energy”, which is defined as a 2024 material topic.

Management of Material Topics

According to ITRI’s materiality analysis, ITRI has identified the following seven material topics for 2024 (Note):

  • Technological Innovations and R&D
  • Technology Application and Promotion
  • Customer Relations
  • Business Partner Relationship
  • Information Security Management
  • Talent Cultivation and Development
  • Greenhouse Gases and Renewable Energy

After analyzing these seven material topics, ITRI has presented its management performance across the following dimensions: “Materiality and Impact Significance,” “Policies/Commitments and Actions Taken,” “2024 Goals and Key Achievements,” “2025 Goals,” “Value Chain Impact,” and the “Corresponding Chapters” detailing each material topic. These are disclosed in ITRI’s 2024 Sustainability Report. For more information, please click the link here to view the details.

Note 1: Differences in material topics between the 2024 report and the previous edition: Compared to 2023, the original topics “Reduction of GHG Emissions” and “Renewable Energy” were consolidated into “Greenhouse Gases and Renewable Energy,” which has been elevated as a material topic for the Institute.
