In 2015, the United Nations introduced the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development," which outlines 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals call on governments and organizations worldwide to systematically assess and manage the environmental, social, and human impacts associated with their economic activities. In alignment with the UN’s framework, Taiwan’s National Development Council (NDC) formulated and released the "Taiwan Sustainable Development Goals" for the period 2016–2022.
As a national think tank, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is firmly committed to advancing sustainable development with integrity and steady progress. ITRI not only continues to promote integrity governance, innovation, research and development, and technology transfer, thereby contributing to enhancing Taiwan’s international competitiveness, but also strives to improve social well-being by applying its technological achievements to public welfare initiatives and industrial applications, actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.
In terms of environmental protection, ITRI has constructed green buildings and vigorously promoted the deployment of renewable energy and energy-saving, carbon-reduction measures. In the future, ITRI will continue to leverage technological innovation to transform industrial value chains and improve quality of life, developing market-driven solutions that foster new industries, promote human well-being, and guide both industry and society toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
